He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and brother. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and had served as bi-vocational Minister of Music in several area churches for many years. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He was self-employed in the Life and Health Insurance business since September 1, 1959 (Nash Insurance Agency). He was President of the Life Underwriters Association in El Dorado in 1964 and 1970 and received the Pioneer Award in 1997. A member of the El Dorado Kiwanis Club since 1971, he served as President in 1976 and again in 2006-2007, and as Lt. Governor of the Missouri-Arkansas District Division 25 in 1977 and 1978. He received the Kiwanis International Life Member Award in September 1989.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Julia Nash, of Norphlet; his wife of 48 years, Kathryn Sehon Nash; son-in-law, James R. Parnell, of Little Rock; sister-in-law, Peggy Nash, of Norphlet; and sister-in-law, Relda Sehon Mainard and her husband, Gerald, of Grapevine, Texas.
Survivors are his wife of five years, Linnie Stephens Nash, of Urbana; three daughters Judith Nash Rogers (Bill) of Conway, Donna Nash Parnell-Beasley (Robert) of Little Rock, and Deborah Nash Pounders (Michael) of Hot Springs; one brother, Bobby Nash of Norphlet; seven grandchildren Jessica Lane Pounders and Leslie Pounders Loe (Bruce) of Hot Springs, Katie Pounders of Fayetteville, James Ryan Parnell (Holly) of Hartford, Connecticut, Reid Cameron Parnell (Courtney) of Little Rock, Erin Rogers West (Joe) of Lowell, and William Michael Rogers (Abby) of Fayetteville; and eleven great-grandchildren Samuel Jacob Parnell, Ariane Renee Parnell, Eleanor Jane Parnell, Sean Ryan Parnell, and Ingrid Anneliese Parnell of Hartford, Connecticut; Ainslee Elizabeth Morgan, Jhett Ryker Parnell and Hunter Cameron Parnell of Little Rock; Owen Michael Rogers and Harper Addison Rogers of Fayetteville; Oliver James Loe of Hot Springs; and Emma Catherine West of Lowell; nieces and nephews Tammy Nash Roberson, Michael Nash, Becky Harbour, Laurea Irving, and Lance Dunahoe; and Linnie’s children Vicki Lindsey, Debbie McDonald, and Greg Stephens.
We especially thank the staff of the Golden Oaks Neighborhood at Silver Oaks Health and Rehabilitation in Camden and Ouachita County Medical Center Hospice who provided excellent loving care for Dad during his stay.
The funeral will be at Young’s Funeral Directors on Friday, March 23, at 1:00, with Dr. Benjy McCann and Rev. Steve Pelz officiating. Visitation will be at Young’s immediately following the service. Private burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
