He was born July 20, 1930 to George William Jenkins and Edna Alyne Holley in El Dorado, Arkansas.
Jim was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He married Doy Lawson o March 23, 1951. Jim was a supply salesman for his business, Union Supply Company in Smackover and Magnolia. "Diamond" Jim loved his Smackover Community and the First United Methodist Church where he was a member for seventy-seven years. Jim was a song writer and poet, in recent years Jim produced a "hit" song, "Knockin On 90". He was a life-long LSU Tigers and New York Yankee Fan, and one more thing, to quote Jim, "Touch Down Tigers"!
Preceded in death by his parents and brother, George William Jenkins, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doy Faye Jenkins of Smackover, AR; daughters, Rebecca Bryant of Covington, LA and Holley Wiliams (John) of Fort Worth, TX; son, George William “Billy” Jenkins, III of Blainesville, GA; sister, Margaret Ann Roberds (Richard) of Cary, NC; and was known as Pa-Paw to his four grandchildren, Andy Williams (Melissa), Allen Bryant, Chris Williams, Laura Bryant (Billy Scallions); and six great grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held with Rev. Steve Cook officiating and burial under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
