J.M. White, 87, of El Dorado, went to be with the Lord after a short illness on October 22, 2011 at his residence. Born October 17, 1924 in Union County, he was the son of the late Robert Lee White and Mittie Burson White. He was a longtime resident of the Mt. Union community and attended Mt. Union Baptist Church. He served 2 years in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Grumium. J.M. worked for the Rock Island Railroad for 22 years before his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife Patsy “Pat” of 61 years.
He is survived by his son Robert O. White and his wife Becky and daughter Viola Ann Hilyard all of El Dorado. He is also survived by grandchildren Ray Hilyard (Patty), Trish Kooms (James), Chad White (Melissa), Rhonda Thurlkill (Chris) all of El Dorado and Kimberly Irizarry (Tim) of Little Rock; his great-grandchildren Magen and Justin Kooms, Ryne and Jessica Thurlkill, Tess Monteith and Erin, Anna and Isabella Irizarry; sister Ida Lee White Brasher of Farmerville, LA.
Visitation was held Monday from 6PM-8PM at Young’s.
Funeral services will be held 2PM Tuesday at Mount Union Baptist Church with Rev. Buddy Burton and Rev. Leroy Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Smyrna Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
He will be missed by everyone who knew him, but he is not gone. Memories of him are in the hearts of his family and many friends who could never forget his generous nature and loving spirit. You can see him in the many faces of his family.
Pallbearers are Ray Hilyard, James Kooms, Chad White, Chris Thurlkill, Tim Irizarry, Bob Tom Risor and Yancy Brasher. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Ham and Paul Cook.
