Born August 17, 1925 in Stephens, Arkansas she was the daughter of John Henry and Minnie Mae Miller Williams.
Mrs. Crook worked in security and loss prevention at Woolco and K-Mart before her retirement.
Following her retirement she remained active in numerous areas. In 1995 she was named the Outstanding Volunteer by RSVP, having served as the accountant for the biweekly Senior Dance program and also served as a tax preparer for the group.
In 2004 she was a recipient of the Five Who Care award given to persons who go over and beyond in service to the community and its citizens. In 2007 she was recognized by the Arkansas Gerontological Society with the Sister Pierre Vorster Award for outstanding volunteer service in the state of Arkansas.
She was a faithful member of Parkview Baptist Church serving meals each Wednesday to the church youth and supported many of the youth activities including the youth softball team. She also was a Parkview Neighborhood Watch volunteer.
Mrs. Crook was an active participant in weekly domino and card activities.
Most important to Mrs. Crook was the love she had for her family, children and grandchildren whom she treasured more than life itself.
Preceding her in death along with her parents were her husband, C. L. Crook, Jr., a sister, Marie Kirk and a brother, David Williams.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Crook (Darla) of Texarkana, TX and Chris Crook (Pam) of Junction City, AR and one daughter, Rebecca Hughes (Doyle) of El Dorado and a sister, Hazel Hayes (Cecil) of Conway. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Doyle “Bubba” Hughes, II, Geremy Hughes, Joshua Crook, Jared Barton (Alison), Chase Crook, K. C. Crook and Baylee Crook.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Parkview Baptist Church with Rev. Lyle Hern and Rev. Ken Overton officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
The family will receive friends at Parkview Baptist Church Monday evening from 5:00 P. M. to 8:00 P.M.
