Mr. Shipman had been a policeman in Pine Bluff and later employed in sales with Sears. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in El Dorado where he served as executive secretary and ward clerk under several Bishops.
Preceding him in death along with his father, Edward Shipman, Sr. were grandsons; Joshua Tyler Martinez and Payton Martinez and granddaughter, Jade Martinez.
Survivors include his mother, Helen Shipman, a brother, Alan Shipman (Kim), a sister Anne Walker, a daughter, Amber Elizabeth Martinez along with granddaughters; Allie Elizabeth Martinez and Elizabella "Bella" Grace Martinez. Also surviving are three nieces; Brittany Shipman, Lindsay Parks (Mason), and Brandi Short (Nic) and three nephews; DJ Walker (Cristi), Greg Walker (Jessica) and Phillip Walker (Whitney) and a host of grandnieces and grandnephews.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with funeral services to begin at 11:00 a.m. with David Lunsford officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Graceland Cemetery in Pine Bluff under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Loggins, Brian Bates, Zachery Bogle, Ronnie Nash, David Dews and Doug Higdon.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Ben Shipman Memorial Fund at any Smackover State Bank location.
