Don Keith Jolley, Sr., 73 of El Dorado, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. He was born May 23, 1939, to Jessie B. and Thelma Jennings Jolley in Three Creeks, AR.
Don began working for El Dorado Water Utilities in 1960, where he began working as a meter reader and retired as a Superintendent after 52 years of service. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, and in 1961 he defended his country in the Cuban Missile Crisis. He married Karen Culbertson on June 9, 1962. January 11, 2013, was proclaimed as Don Jolley Day and he was awarded the Key to the City of El Dorado and the water tank on Highway 82 West was dedicated in honor of his service as the Don K. Jolley Water Tank. He was a member of Trinity Chapel Assembly of God Church in Three Creeks. He loved to fish and hunt, but most of all he loved his family.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jessie B. Jolley.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 ½ years, Karen Culbertson Jolley of El Dorado; mother, Thelma Jolley of El Dorado; two sons, Don Keith Jolley, Jr. of El Dorado, Christopher David Jolley of Little Rock; sister, Jessie Ware of El Dorado; brother, Hubert Jolley (Wanda) of Three Creeks, four grandchildren, Hunter Jolley of Little Rock, Katelyn Jolley of Haynesville, LA, Seth Jolley, and Cameron Jolley both of El Dorado; sister-in-law, Elena Miller (David); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at Young’s.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, at Young’s Chapel with Rev. R.L. Dison and Rev. Kelby Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Jolley Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
Serving as pallbearers will be Todd Jolley, Greg Jolley, Joe Ware, James “Bubba” Miller, Glen Holmes, and Don Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of El Dorado Water Utilities.
