Known to his family as “Sonny” he had 4 brothers and 5 sisters. A WWII veteran, he joined the Navy in 1944. He married Nettia Catherine Hinson on August 1, 1952 and settled in El Dorado. Mr. Hale was a member of the First Baptist Church - El Dorado, and had served on the building committee, volunteer church bus driver, Baptist Men’s Disaster Relief Association, Habitat for Humanity, and was a 32nd degree Mason. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 1989.
Preceding him were siblings: Vivian Stoffer, William Hale, Raymond Hale, Charles “Bill” Hale, and Douglas Hale.
Survivors include his wife Nettia, and children: Lou Ann (David) Voris, Don (Andrea) Hale and Jean Davis. Grandchildren: Justin Voris, Jeremy Voris, Rusty Davis, Reece Davis, Lauren Hall, Alex Johnston, and Clark Hale and seven great grandchildren. Other survivors include sisters: Francis Bratton, Patricia Nunes, Virginia Berry and Doris Roberts.
Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 23 at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock with Rev. Kevin Hale, pastor of Christ Church Conway officiating. Military honors will be presented by the U.S. Navy Honors Team. Interment to follow under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors of El Dorado.
