Cled Morris, was born on May 7, 1922 in Fayette, Alabama to Nicodemus Lane and Cora Maggie Barnette Morris who preceded him in death. He was one of the eight children, five brothers and two sisters. His wife Geraldine Rule Morrow Morris preceded him in death. He is survived by one daughter, Mary Sue Morris of Paducah, KY, five stepchildren, Kenneth, Eugene, Glen, and David Morrow and one stepdaughter Paulette Morrow Holder; numerous grand, great-great and great-great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends too many to mention.
“Uncle Cled” as we all knew him went to his Heavenly Home January 26, 2014. He passed away at Oak Ridge Nursing Home where he had been in residence since 2009 with Alzheimer’s. One could say he was the lost of the “Mohicans” for he was the last of the the original Morris clan in our family to pass away. He was a devout Christian and was faithful to his Lord. Uncle Cled was known for his effervescent sense of humor, anyone that knew him to attest to this fact.
He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps during 1940 to 1941 based in Little Rock, AR. Then joined the United States Air Force WWII serving four years and earning the rank of TSGT of the 13th Squadron. He served in the USAF reserve after WWII until 1948.
