Charles Rhodes

Born January 20, 1937 in Lillie, Louisiana, he was the son of Henry Thomas and Celia Mae Yossett Rhodes. Mr. Rhodes was retired as manager of Harper Farms for over 30 years. He was of the Baptist faith and embodied kindness, hard work, and dedication to his family throughout his life.

Preceding him in death along with his parents was a sister, Carolyn Rhodes Saulsbury and a brother, Ben Colvin Rhodes.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 59 years, Jimmie Hull Rhodes of Junction City, two sons, Chuck Rhodes (Jennifer) and Clint Rhodes (Jennifer) all of El Dorado. Also surviving are five brothers, John Rhodes of Clinton, AR, Bob Rhodes (Rachel) of Mountain View, AR, Michael Rhodes (Brenda) of West Monroe, LA, Don Rhodes (Barbara) of Sarepta, LA and Pat Rhodes (Desha) of Satsuma, FL. Surviving grandchildren are Carli DeNoon (Jonathan) of El Dorado, Caden Rhodes of Conway, AR, Loren Rhodes of Nashville, TN and Jared Rhodes of El Dorado and one great-grandchild, Nathaniel DeNoon. Charles was a favorite uncle and father figure to a host of nieces and nephews whom he called his own.

He was a true cowboy and southern gentleman, as never left his house without his western attire.

Charles cherished spending time with his grandchildren by sharing his love of horses, outdoors and Hershey kisses. He passed down his strong work ethic and love of hunting to his boys, but they never quite caught onto his love of Louis L’Amour western books and Grand Ole Opry music. Charles and his favorite girl, Jimmie, whom he called baby, were inseparable for almost 59 years, during both the good and hard times.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Young's Chapel with Rev. Mary Depper and Kent Jobe officiating. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery near Spearsville, LA under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Young's.
