She was born April 14, 1941 in Hot Springs, AR to Dr. Charles E. and Mary Johnston Kennedy. Before retiring Betty worked as a cashier for Sumac in Smackover, she was a 1959 graduate of Smackover High School, a long time resident of Smackover. She loved being with family and friends, watching her razorbacks play. She was a huge fan. She loved everyone and never met a stranger.
Preceding her in death are her parents, a brother, Charles Kennedy and a sister, Mary V. Titus.
Survivors include her sons, Russell Mitchell “Rusty” and his wife Melissa of Bastrop, LA and Robert A. Drummond and his wife Donna of Bossier City, LA; daughter, Mary Ann Hawthorne of El Dorado; grandchildren, Tina Marie, Chris, Cody, Jennifer, Jessica Mitchell & Brandon Hughes and Christy Drummond; great grandchildren, Johnathon, Timmy, Trey, and Kasey and her dog Gee Gee.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012 in Young’s Chapel with Rev. Kyle Peters officiating. Burial will follow at Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Willie Givens, Barry Bland, Mike Galbraith, Bill McGhee, Charles Ray Sellers, Danny Pesnell, and Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Harper, James Jennings and Jerry Langley.
