Belva was born on July 30, 1930, in El Dorado, AR; one of 10 children of the late Stacy Hicks McGoogan and James McGoogan. She went home to be with the Lord on October 10, 2022. She graduated from Junction City High School and married her one true love, Troy Jolley, on August 8, 1948 with whom she celebrated 57 years of marriage.
Belva was a productive homemaker and mother, as well as an incredible cook. Everyone loved our mother's sweet spirit! She always made everyone feel at home when they came to visit. As we were growing up, our father tore down an old building and built a store next door to our house. Through hard work, long hours, ethics, and perseverance our mother ran this community grocery business called "Jolley's Grocery" for 27 years until she retired. From that store, she taught us all Christian values, life skills, how to be productive citizens and much much more. The hardest working lady we have ever known! Then, as our family aged and kids married, momma always had wonderful Sunday dinners that we wouldn't miss! A lot of great memories from a truly remarkable mother. In fact, the most remarkable woman we will ever know. She left the world a much warmer place, and we are truly blessed to have her for our mother!
Belva loved each of her children and their families dearly and was extremely proud of each of them. She was a devoted and adoring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt to many and will be deeply missed. She always told us how thankful she was and what a good life she had. She always had a positive attitude.
Belva was preceded in death by her husband, Troy; son, Michael and daughter-in-law, Rhonda; brothers, Rudolph and O'Neal; and sisters, Lucille and Maybelline. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Ricky Jolley and wife, Joanie; daughters, Donna Smith and husband, Mackey; Kathy Stevens and husband, Larry; Alisa Davis and husband, Mike; sisters, Vernell Lollar, Imogene Lloyd, and Pamela McGoogan; brothers, Bob McGoogan, Paul McGoogan and wife, Linda. She is also survived by grandchildren, Cliff Jolley, Tina Hailey (Scott), Ashley Finton (Jay), Christopher Jolley, Brandi Wallace (Larry), Jonathan Stevens (Brooke), Jessica Kidwell (Kevin), Jarrett Davis, Sheila Duncan (David) and Dona Thurlkill (Shane); a multitude of great grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Honoring Belva as pallbearers will be Christopher Jolley, Jarrett Davis, Thomas Jolley, Scott Hailey, Kevin Kidwell and Larry Wallace. The family extends special thanks and love to Belva's caregivers, Annette Bass, Karen Gibson, and Becky Scott, for their devotion, compassion and friendship to our mom. We appreciate you and all you have done. We would also like to thank the staff of Hudson Memorial Nursing Home for providing a safe, comfortable, and friendly place filled with compassion and love for our mother the last 7 years of her life.
