Mrs. Gulick was born on August 1,1933 in St. Louis, Michigan to Arthur and Berle Russell Adams. Arneila graduated from St. Louis High School in St. Louis, Michigan in 1951. She married Harold Gulick on September 5, 1952. The Gulicks raised their 5 children in Alma, Michigan where Mrs. Gulick had an in-home child care. Her family moved to El Dorado, Arkansas in 1980 where she immediately started volunteering at Murmil Heights Elementary School and eventually became the school’s secretary. After retiring, she continued to volunteer weekly in her daughter-in-loves’ classroom until Covid in 2020.
Mrs. Gulick was an active member of the El Dorado Community of Christ Church where she served in many aspects through the years such as Sunday school teacher, church secretary, and church historian. Mrs. Gulick also baked her delicious home-made bread for communion services each month! Arneila enjoyed daily walks with her husband Harold until his death in 2020. They could often be spotted all over El Dorado walking and picking up cans. Many, through the years, were blessed by her delicious homemade cookies and brownies, and her beautiful baby sweaters. Mrs. Gulick was faithful to attend Murmil Heights neighborhood watch meetings, was on the board at Turning Point, and was a companion to children with cancer at Camp Quality for many years. She also loved traveling all over the US to be with her precious family! Mrs. Gulick lived and loved like Jesus every day! Her sweet smile, kind and giving heart, and selfless service to others will be greatly missed.
Arneila was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Harold Gulick, and two sisters, Elaine Kaufman and Evelyn Groening.
She is survived by three daughters, Roxanne Spragan (Will) of Ooltewah, Tennessee, Rhonda Keil (John) of Rosemount, Minnesota, Staci Jo Zabel (Dwight) of Branson, Missouri, and two sons, Randy Gulick (Barbara) of Lenoir City, Tennessee, and Rory Gulick (Stacy) of El Dorado. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Candice Prichard, Michael Spragan, Shawn Spragan, Krista Patterson, John Keil, Jaclyn Gill, Morgan Zabel, Lexi Zabel, and Tanner Zabel as well as eight great grands, and one new great, great grand. She was also blessed by a host of other relatives, friends, and neighbors.
Visitation will be held from 5pm-7pm on Friday, July 28th at Young’s Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 29th at 11am at Young’s Funeral Chapel with Alice Parker officiating. Burial will be at Arlington Cemetery.
