Susan Elizabeth Beard joined this earth on December 24, 1954, just one day shy of Christmas Day. “Let’s sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Jesus!” Sue and her cousin, Patrick, would say with the sweetest chuckle. Sue was born to her mother, Helen, and father, Tom, and grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania with her sister, Barbie.
Sue shared memories of a beautiful childhood with summer days spent at the beach, road trips with her parents and beloved sister, joyful get togethers with her many wonderful cousins…and several tales of her lively spirit that only a few of us may ever have the gift of knowing.
Sue had many great accomplishments. From earning her master’s degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, devoting her career to educating elementary children as a Reading Specialist, raising the three daughters whom she adored, and marrying the love of her life, Randy.
Sue and Randy truly enjoyed each other’s company. With regular trips to the desert, Mexico, Catalina Island, and adventures on their treasured boat, not a day went by that Randy and Sue weren’t enjoying life to the fullest.
Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Sue knew these things were true – Sue was kind, funny, and fierce. She loved the Lord, her family, and every student she worked with as a teacher. Every day in her presence was filled with laughter.
Sue, a.k.a., Susie Q, Sue Babe, Mama Sue, Mima, or Mommy, left this earth to become our angel on September 6, 2024. Although her journey here ended sooner than anyone was ready for, she left the deepest impact on every single person who was lucky enough to know her.
Sue is survived by her husband, Randy; her daughters, Emily, Lindsay, and Amanda; and her eight grandchildren, Maddox, Ava, Charley, Chase, Saylor, Seven, Hendricks, and Jagger.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider making a donation in Sue’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
