Ronald was laid to rest in a private ceremony at Miramar National Cemetery with Military Honors on December 19, 2023 surrounded by close family and lifelong friends.
Ronald has long awaited to join his beloved Shiela, and their two dogs, Belle and Sissy in the arms of our Lord. Ronald is survived by son, David, daughter, Deborah, step children, Denise, Jennifer, Nate and Garrett and grandchildren, Madeline, Mackenzie, Jacob, Lucas, Emily, Mateo and Thomas.
Those who knew, Ronald, also knew him as RED, The Horse, The Roundman, Big Bad Ron, Grandpa Ron, GR and Dad.
Dad was born in Long Beach, California where he was adopted and raised in Riverside, Ca by his parents, Sigurd (Bud) and Faye Densmore. Dad, grew up on a farm and was a life long fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Dad graduated from Riverside Polytechnical High School, and the California Maritime Academy with an Engineering Degree and attended the US Navy Post Graduate School in Monterrey, CA. When Dad finished school he was shipped out the following Monday and served our country as an officer of the Navy in Guam, Japan, Okinawa, Philippines and three years in Vietnam where he was awarded two Bronze Star Medals.
Dad was most proud of his 35 years with Kelco in San Diego and and ISP Eslatomers in Beaumont, Tx. His lifelong friendships with Steve, Mike, Robert and George were established at work and all were present at our fathers funeral. We are very thankful for the support of these men in the last few months of our fathers life, especially, Mike and Steve who were often called upon for support, encouragement and advice.
How do you honor a man whose life affected so many? How do you honor a man who worked so hard and was trusted to get the job done? How do you honor a man who loved so deeply and compassionately? How do you honor a man whose lifelong friends visited him and stayed with him to the end? How do you honor a man who is known to have a bigger than life personality ? How do you honor a man who would correct you when talking about boats and not calling them by their proper name, “its a ship!” How do you honor a man who loved traveling with his wife Sheila and then with his son, David on many road trips . How do you honor a man who loved reading and wrote cards and emails with so much emotion and feeling?
You cannot ! You cannot honor this man in just a few short paragraphs, but I will leave you with these words he wrote..
“Beautiful brown and hazel eyes with the serenity of the sea, Reflection of the sky on a bright and sunny day, my big hand holding yours, I’m your protector and guide, I shall not walk too fast for I am by your side.
