BOB'S EULOGY (part 2): An eternal optimist, Bob did not give up on love and found happiness with Karla, his life partner for the past 21 years. Together they had four children, Aaron, Jessie, Erica and Tony. He loved each of them for their individual talents and strengths. Bob was part of their lives, a positive force that gave his kids reassurance that they were loved and cared for by him. Bob believed in family and was always present during family events and holiday celebrations. The thought of not having my brother at the next birthday celebration, backyard BBQ or holiday event, saddens me. Bob is survived by his mother Elsa, his sisters, Rachel and Carmen, his life partner, Karla, seven children and one grandchild, Jaxon Robert Alvarez.

In closing, I want to thank family, friends and Bob's co-workers, for paying their final respects to a beloved Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Friend and Life Partner. Even though we are heartbroken at Bob's passing, he is reunited with his father and his sister Becky, and at peace with the Lord and the angels and will forever dwell in paradise.

BOB'S EULOGY (part 1): Bob Alvarez Jr. was my brother and my friend. I loved him dearly and unconditionally. He was a good man, loving, kind, caring and humble. My brother had many friends in his life both at work and outside of work. He was loved by many and respected as well. Early in his life he learned kindness and empathy, being raised in the Catholic faith, much of its teachings were ingrained in his heart and soul. Bob was a genuinely nice guy and a good person. He worked hard every day of his life whether he was earning a living or just trying to survive his many struggles. He continued to put his best foot forward in hopes of a better day. Bob had seven children, all of whom he loved and cherished.

Bob worked at a Moving Van & Storage Company all of his adult life holding various positions and titles. His work was extremely physical and strenuous but he never complained. He just wanted to contribute and be useful. While most people dread the thought of packing up their home or office and moving, my brother embraced it and prospered. And when his health started to fail him in his last year of life, he was determined to change his lifestyle for the betterment of his health and family.

As my sister Rachel and I sifted through the many family photos putting together my brother's life story, there were many pictures of him from his early childhood and throughout his adult life. Like his father before him, he loved sports and he was good at it just like his dad. He played little league baseball, pop warner football and many high school sports. I still have many of his sports trophies at my home. After high school, he attended Grossmont College where he earned an Associate Degree in Business. He played football for Grossmont College as well. He married young, right after college and had three children, Krista, Melissa & Robert III. Although his marriage did not last, he loved his children and was looking forward to reconnecting with them in the years to come.

Dear Elsa, Rachel, Carmen, Karla, and all of the children, 

I am so very sorry for your loss of Bob. He was a great son, brother, husband, father, and friend. My heart, prayers, and deepest sympathy are with all of you at this time. Eternal rest grant unto Bob, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Bob,  
You will always be Bobby to me, growing up as kids you were the older cousin I looked up too. And even though we grew apart as adults I always knew if I ever needed you for anything you would be there... The last time I seen you was so precious to me, we spoke briefly but it was the hug, embrace and kiss on the forehead that will always remain in my heart.  I will miss you but I will see you in heaven.

Bob,

When I married your sister Rachel, you welcomed me into your family without reservation.  You always treated me like your brother.   I remember visiting you in your house in Santee so long ago and you always greeted me with a smile and a cold beer, even it was just a Coors Light.   We watched each other's children play and  grow into the amazing people they are today and we always shared that common bond of family, no matter how great the distance.  You are loved, you will be missed, and you will not be forgotten.
