Daughter of John and Pearl Fleming she was born in the Territory of Hawaii on a tropical Fall Monday, November 2, 1936.
Wife of Edward Hannibal for 45 years they enjoyed family camping, reunions and dancing together. She is survived by her 3 daughters; Cindy Unden, Kathleen Moffett and Natalie Hannibal. Her 7 Granddaughters; Nicole, Alissa, Kayley, Sara, Lindsey, Madison, Lauren and 3 Great Grandchildren Shamarion, Jaelynn and Acoya were main subjects of her creative photography. She adored her children and often expressed how proud she was of each of her “precious babies” and “sweetie-pies”.
At a young age Mother was a collector of movie star’s photos of her day. In her collegiate years she valued education and was a member of the Alpha Iota International Honorary Business Sorority and put herself through a medical self help training course where she took on the motto “Knowledge replaces fear.”
Our mother mentored and nurtured many young women through Girl Scout Troops 65 and 6165 in Lakeside, California. She worked with the children of Lakeside in the Lakeside and Mother Goose parades, El Capitan High School band and Sports Boosters as well as working with “her kids” at Lakeside Middle School and other Lakeside Schools for over 30 years. She was well loved and respected by even the recalcitrant children. Having “adopted” many people her family borders knew no boundaries.
Throughout her life mother always explored her creative side by oil painting, tole painting , cake decorating, crafting recipes and yes even basket weaving. She was a master seamstress and gardener. Her many varieties of roses were beyond remarkable.
In later years as she was forced to slow down, her grandchildren were her highlights. She loved and always wore bright colors, enjoyed all types of flora, traveling with her daughters, her senior groups and her friends from church. Her birthplace of Hawaii was a repeat destination and remained her favorite.
Our Mother instilled in us a respect for our family history and ourselves. By the example of her own character she taught us how to be strong women of refined culture and class; never be afraid to speak your mind with diplomacy and tact; be the avid reader; continue your own self education and learn something new each day.
Our mother loved well and did her best to live her life to the fullest capacity. We love you Mother and we will do our best to carry on your Legacy.
