Michael Lee Baffone Sr was born in Jacksonville, Florida on July 14th, 1946. His parents were Albert Joseph Baffone Sr. and Margaret Billie Baffone. He has one brother, Albert Joseph Baffone Jr. and two sisters, Dianora Baffone Quinn and Valerie Kathleen Baffone. His parents and brother had already passed, so he is survived by his two sisters, two sons Michael Lee Baffone Jr and Brodie Joseph Baffone. He also leaves behind four beloved grandchildren named Joshua, Danielle, Eva, and Sierra.
Michael Sr. came to San Diego with his Mother and Brother at the age of nine. At 16 he met his future wife, Bonnie Ashburn. They married and at 18 he joined the Army and served in Vietnam. They had Michael Jr. and after being honorably discharged he came home and they had Brodie. Michael Sr immediately found work at General Dynamics in the aerospace industry after leaving the Army. His work ethic was impeccable and he stayed loyal and true to his company and the aerospace industry until his retirement at the age of 55. He fostered many lifelong friendships during his time at General Dynamics. These friendships included Larry Mitchell, Larry Jensen, Gary Peterson Sr, and Jim Brewer to name just a few.
After Michael Sr’s marriage to Bonnie was over, he would marry his second wife, Glenda Claytor in the early 80’s. Glenda’s family immediately blended in with Michael’s and would become an integral part of the rest of his life. Glenda’s father Floyd Claytor Jr. and brother Larry Claytor would end up being two of the closest friends Michael Sr. would ever have. Glenda also had three step brothers that immediately formed bonds as well. They were Ronnie, Gene, and Randy.
Michael’s generosity often led to him offering his home, along with his ADVICE to friends and extended family whenever the situation presented itself. Throughout these times he cherished many moments with someone he considered an adopted son, Thomas Correa. As well as a very beloved nephew Gary Peterson Jr. In Michael Sr.’s later years he would form a loving bond with a dear family friend, Arcelia Valadez. Better known as CC. She would provide loving
help and much needed care in Michael Sr’s most trying of times.
Michael Lee Baffone Sr. passed very Peacefully on Saturday afternoon, January 7th of 2017. He was in his Home surrounded by his Family and Friends LOVE. His two beloved Dogs were also there and his two Sons were by his side and the Football Game was on in the background. Please put him in your Thoughts and Prayers!
