Melinda Christine Clay

Melinda Christine Clay, born on November 24, 1967, in San Francisco, California, went to the Lord on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the age of 56 in San Diego, California. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends during her final moments.

Melinda was a warm and welcoming individual who greeted everyone with a contagious smile and the words, "How may I help you." She had a passion for travel, often embarking on camping trips to the beach and going hiking on weekends and during school breaks. Kwaay Paay Peak, Cowles Mountain, and Potato Chip were among her favorite hiking spots. Melinda cherished the moments spent with her family and friends, living life to the fullest.

In her spare time, Melinda enjoyed solving puzzles and planning her next adventure. She had an unwavering love for her family, including her beloved dogs, Hailey and Snickers.

Melinda dedicated 19 years of her life to the Coronado Unified School District, serving at Palm Academy and Village Elementary School. Her commitment to education left a lasting impact on the lives of countless students and parents.

Melinda was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church, a place of worship where she found solace and spiritual guidance.

In addition to her husband, Donald, Melinda is survived by her loving children, Ashley and Kevin (Wife, Claire, Child, David) her mother, Johanna, and her brothers, David (Wife, Melissa, Children, Nicholas, and Allison)and Robert (Wife, Kimberly, Children, Brandon and Lucas). She was preceded in death by her father Frans Francke.

Melinda's vibrant spirit, love for adventure, and warm personality will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will forever be treasured in the hearts of her family and friends.

A visitation for Melinda will be held Monday, December 18, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at El Cajon Mortuary & Cremation Service, 684 South Mollison Avenue, El Cajon, CA 92020. A rosary service will occur Monday, December 18, 2023 at 7:00 PM, 684 South Mollison Avenue, El Cajon, CA 92020. A mass of christian burial will occur Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 9310 Dalehurst Road, Santee, CA 92071. A committal service will occur Saturday, December 23, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA 92122. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Melinda's name.
