Linda died unexpectedly alone at her home of undermined cause, assuredly to join her beloved husband in his heavenly adventures. Born to, Rosemary (Gaetano) and Dr. Samuel Kassel, in Berkeley, CA, she moved to San Diego at a young age, graduating from Crawford HS and SDSU. As a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, she received her Bachelor and Masters of Education degrees. She also held a Reading Specialist Credential.
Linda became, Mrs. Glen B. Thacher December 20, 1968, a marriage of 37 years. Her first job offer followed from Hall Elementary School. She enjoyed a 34.5 year career there and spent the rest of her life in El Cajon.
They built their first house on a hill above Shadow Mountain Church in October 1972. From there, their hospitality was shared with family, friends and coworkers, especially their annual July 4th party. Sequence of beloved "animal children", birds, cats, and dogs, shared this nurturing home. Love of animals reflected in home décor; any future sightings of Moose, Bear, Elk or Huckleberry forever to be a visit from, Linda.
The ideal fisherman's wife, Linda indulged, Glenn's love of fishing, known to drop his line anywhere a pool of water as found with special love for extended deep sea trips. Together they enjoyed country western dancing, any kind of spectator sports events, motorhome getaways, annual July Wyoming treks, plus trips to Europe, South America, and Australia. Devoted fans of horse racing, for 20 years Linda assisted Glenn chairing the annual Del Mar San Diego Children's Dental Health Association fundraiser "Day at the Races." Event renamed for him upon his untimely 2006 death and she continued assisting until her own death.
Linda was preceded by both parents and her husband. She is survived by her sister, Laurie, extended Kassel and Thacher family and many lifelong friends.
Memorial services are postponed, as well as scattering of ashes at their special Wyoming park. Donations in, Linda's honor can be made to any charity blessing the lives of animals.
She will be remembered for the joy brought, for friendship, for caring, for the things shared and taught. Lives touched are better for having known her.
