Kerry Thompson was born in Castro Valley, California in 1960 and grew up around Southern California in cities like Coronado, Culver City, and Canoga Park. In 1978, she graduated from El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills, California where she played the flute in the marching band. Kerry then moved to San Diego, California to attend San Diego State University where she studied early childhood education and nursing. In 1986, Kerry gave birth to her beautiful and loving daughter Melanie in San Diego. In addition to working as a registered nurse, Kerry worked as a bus driver and physical therapist. While spending her adult years in the San Diego communities of Descanso and Alpine, as well as Show Low, Arizona, she enjoyed family, her dogs, camping, and riding all-terrain vehicles in the deserts of southeast California. Kerry was a loving and generous person whose extensive memory helped her serve as the unofficial historian of the Thompson and Kolze families. She is survived by her daughter Melanie La Chappa, brothers Scott Thompson and Brett Thompson, and her father Warren Thompson.
