Julio "Chris" Salas, 78, of San Diego, California passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 3, 2022.
Chris was born October 19,1944 in Oceanside, California to Julio C Salas, Sr and Guadalupe Hernandez Salas. Chris was raised in Solana Beach and graduated from San Dieguito High School in 1963. He joined the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War. Chris worked and retired from Conrock Construction in Mira Mesa.
On April 24,1965 Chris was united in marriage to Irma L Corrales at St. John's Catholic Church in Encinitas, CA. The union was blessed with the birth of two daughters, Tina Marie and Carey Michelle. Irma preceded Chris in death on Dec. 15,2019.
The couple lived and raised their two girls in the Mira Mesa Community. Providing and seeing his girls grow into caring adults made him most happy. He remained active with men's softball leagues, bowling and coaching youth boys' baseball teams. Chris and Irma enjoyed attending their girls' volleyball and basketball games. As well as being enthusiastic supporters to their grandsons' baseball games and concerts. They also liked traveling to places to visit: Lake Tahoe, Hawaii, Elk Grove, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Kansas and Oklahoma.
Celebrating family holidays, birthdays and coming together for family gatherings were always special times for Chris and Irma. He was grateful for his family and in-laws and all his nieces and nephews.
Chris is survived by his two daughters, Tina Marie Goebel (Craig) of Kansas and Carey Michelle Guyette (Buddy) of San Diego. Grandsons Nathan Guyette, Talin Goebel, Tytin Goebel and Brandon Guyette,
Siblings: Robert Salas I (died at 2 yrs), Victoria Salas, Robert Salas (deceased) and Patrick Salas.
Chris will be cremated. His ashes will be buried at the Miramar National Cemetery later in a private ceremony with immediate family. Viewing and rosary will be at El Cajon Mortuary.
