He was born in Palatine, Illinois, to Milton F. and Mary E. Rohlf. John moved from Illinois to California in 1978 when he married Anni and lived in San Diego until 1984, when they moved to Granite Hills and into their dream home, affectionately known as the "Rohlf Ranch". John owned and managed Fort Knox Storage in El Cajon since 1984. John was Born Again in 2006 and lived the remainder of his life as a disciple of Christ.
John is survived by his loving wife, Anni, sisters Barbara Rohlf and Joan Peterson, and brothers Robert and Richard. John was nicknamed "Uncle Donald" by his late mother-in-law, Nancy Caputo, and this nickname remains by his many nieces and nephews.
