James Cyrus Serino, 58, of El Cajon, CA, passed away on July 4, 2023. Born on July 31, 1964, in New York, NY, James was a kind and happy individual known for his sense of humor and genuine nature. He was an independent spirit who ventured to San Diego from New York at the age of 19, where he lived on his own for many years.
James had a passion for music and was an exceptional musician, specializing in the guitar. He had a natural talent for teaching himself various instruments, including the piano and violin. James produced original music, often writing amusing songs about his family members. His talent extended to doing hilarious on-point impressions as well. We are currently working on creating a website to showcase his songs, ensuring his musical legacy lives on. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His kind and selfless nature left a lasting impact on those around him.
In his professional life, James worked as a sheet metal mechanic. He took pride in his work and approached each task with dedication and expertise.
He is survived by his sisters, Linda de Bourbon (Anthony) of Lansing MI, Celeste (Peter) of Chuluota, FL, and his brothers Hobart Serino (Renee) of Margate FL and Gary Serino of Maui, Hawaii. He is also survived by aunts Audrey and Kitten, cousins John (Alison) and Julie Blenkle, and Jeanette Lown, Diane, and Lisa Brennan from the Schaffhauser family, nephews and nieces Sam de Bourbon, Michael Cafazzo (Jen), Emily Dunn (Nathan) , Marcus Moretti-Serino (Luz), Billie Blenkle, Chris and Kat Serino, and Brian (Brionne) and Peter Anthony Molina. Also many, many great nieces and nephews and his good friend JP Smith.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary Serino, his father, Hobart Serino Jr, his sister Susan Cafazzo, his brother-in-law Mike Cafazzo, his uncle John Blenkle, his brother Christoper Serino and his cousin Ginny Schaffhauser.
No formal memorial service will be held. He will be interred alongside his mother in Valhalla, NY, resting beside his Hakes grandparents, who were his mother's parents.
James's cheerful presence and musical talents brought joy to the lives of those around him. He will be remembered as a truly one-of-a-kind individual, leaving behind happy memories and a legacy of kindness and humor. May he rest in peace.
