Garvin "Tom" was born on October 16, 1938 to Garvin T. Nowell Sr. and Donna Flora (Braun) in San Diego, CA. Tom graduated from San Diego High School in 1956. We went on to study Electrical Engineering at San Diego State College and received his Masters Degree from National University.
Tom served in the U.S. Army as a combat Military Police and went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force from 1964-1985 as a Maintenance Office retiring as a major. In addition to his military service Tom retired from General Dynamics as a Quality Engineer.
Tom enjoyed woodworking after retirement and made many gifts for his grandchildren that will be treasured. Tom was a loving husband and a proud father.
Tom was predeceased by his father G. T. Nowell Sr., mother Donna F. Braun and daughter Gina Armbruster. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Dorothy Tweed, and daughters Darrie Spahr of Mercersburg, PA., Kim Nowell-Ciaccio of Vian, OK., Kristi Nowell of San Diego, CA. 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A committal service for Garvin will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr., San Diego, CA 92122.
