Carolyn was born on February 1, 1954 in Scotland Neck, NC to the proud parents of Carrie

Elizabeth Mitchell Kelly and Richard Lee Kelly.

She was preceded in death by her baby sister, Lisa Marie Kelly on July 18, 1965 and her father,

Richard Lee Kelly on November 22, 2007.

Carolyn grew up around her grandparents: the late Jimmie Mitchell and Geneva Cotton Mitchell

of Scotland Neck, NC; and the late Lloyd Lee Kelly and Florence Mae Kelly of California,

Missouri. She loved her grandparents and was taught many valuable lessons that helped

throughout her lifetime.

Being part of a military family, she traveled and lived in many states. The family finally settled

in San Diego, CA 50 years ago and this is where Carolyn lived from the age of 16.

Carolyn completed her schooling, obtaining an associates degree. She worked many years in the

banking business. She changed fields and found happiness working with juveniles as a probation

officer at the San Diego County Probation Office. She retired from there in 2004 with 10 years

of service.

She lived the last 25 years of her life with MS (Multiple Sclerosis). Carolyn managed a

wonderful, fulfilling life 20 of those years. The last 5 years were a little more challenging, but

if you know Carolyn, she battled through it and gave it her all.

She leaves to cherish her legacy and memory, her mother, Carrie E. Kelly of San Diego, CA, her

aunt Rosella King of Mississippi, a host of cousins and close friends. We will surely miss her

lovable personality.

The family sincerely appreciates and thanks everyone for the love, kind words, cards, flowers,

visits and all they did during this sad time.
