Agnes Dorothy Buzga was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1928. Agnes, her brother Frank and mother moved to San Diego where she finished high school in La Jolla. She met her husband, Leo Ward, while living and working in Old Town and they were married before he left for the Korean War. They had their first born child, David in 1953 and shortly thereafter moved to Corvallis Oregon where he attended OSU. She proceeded to have Tom, Linda and Jeff while he was studying. In 1960 they moved into the home they built in Fletcher Hills where she lived and raised her four children.
She lived to see and love eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who greatly enriched her life. Another joy of her life was owning and managing Hanley’s Gifts in Grossmont Center for nearly five. She enjoyed travel, the ladies luncheons, was an avid reader, and a member of the Junior Women’s Club for many years. Her pot of spaghetti and Hungarian goulash were legendary and loved by many. Cream pies and Sees Candy were frequent, welcomed visitors. Her sense of style, love of bobbles and scarves, and regularly kept hair and nail appointments set her apart as the beauty she was.
Agnes passed peacefully on the evening of September 2nd surrounded by loved ones. The family is grateful that she and David (who preceded her in death) are reunited and once again young and carefree without the burdens their health put upon them. She will be greatly missed and will remain in the hearts of her friends and adoring family.
