Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Arlene; his beloved children Heather (Chris), Ross (Stefania) and precious grandchildren Emily, William, Hayley, Julia and Ethan; sister Betty Cole as well as numerous nephews, nieces and their families. He was predeceased by his parents Alexander and Blanche and brothers Ron and Gordon.
Bill was a graduate of the University of Alberta with a degree in Mining Engineering and a masters degree in Metallurgy. After working as an engineer, he returned to the UofA and graduated with a DDS in 1970 followed by a graduate degree from the University of Washington in Seattle with a specialty in Orthodontics.
He practiced Orthodontics for 24 years and taught in the Orthodontic Graduate Clinic at the UofA for 15 years. His time spent in practice was one of the most rewarding of his life.
Bill loved spending time with his family and at his farm near Millet. He was a passionate reader and a life-long learner. He was kind and generous and he was always available to help friends and family whenever he saw a need.
Family, friends and colleagues are invited to celebrate a tribute to Bill’s life on Sunday, November 26 at the Derrick Golf & Winter Club (3500 – 119 Street, Edmonton) from 11:30am – 2:30pm.
A private mass and interment will take place earlier in the week.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of the University of Alberta Hospital ER for their kindness and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta or a charity of one’s choice.
