on September 3, 2020 in Edmonton, AB at the age of 77 years.
Violet leaves to mourn her husband of 41 years; Morris McDougall Sedger, her sister Julia (Gary) Doll of
Grande Prairie, AB, one daughter Monica (Dale) of Lamont, AB, two sons Allen (Mandy) of Red Deer, AB
and Dale (Lynne) of Grande Prairie, AB. Her precious grandchildren; Shaun (Michelle), Tracey, Michael,
Elek, Erin, Chelsea, Jennifer, Nicole (Jackie), Amy (Mathieu) and 9 great grandchildren; Blake, Lucas,
Paityn, Autumn, Hunter, Tristan, Jessica, Austin, Savannah as well as many very special nephews, nieces, cousins, and beloved friends.
Violet grew up in the Chinook Valley near Peace River, AB. As a young woman, she sought experience
and adventure, and while working as a camp cook, for a time resided in Pincher Creek, Manning, and
Grimshaw.
Eventually, she made her way back home to the family farm in what she lovingly referred to as ‘God’s
country’ in Chinook Valley. Together with Morris, ‘the farm’ as we lovingly called it, held many family
events and made countless memories. Their door was always open, and everyone was welcome.
Violet enjoyed her life with a wide variety of activities including sewing, crafts, game shows, and tending
to her kickass garden.
Violet was predeceased by her parents; Elek and Isabel Erdely, the father of her children; Joseph Himer,
her beloved daughters; Cathy Himer and Doreen Socha, and her brother; Billy Erdely.
Following Mom’s wishes, she will be cremated and returned to Grimshaw, AB as her final resting place. A service will be determined at a later date.
The family wishes to sincerely thank everyone involved in Mom’s life. She was fortunate to be
surrounded by so many amazing and caring people. We will forever have gratitude and comfort in
knowing how much Mom was cherished by those that knew her.
