On August 3rd, 2014, Tom Burns of Edmonton passed away suddenly at the age 65. Tom was born in Danville, Quebec, but moved to Edmonton in the late 70’s to experience the Alberta Advantage.
Tom served the Alberta Government loyally for many years and was well respected by everyone from Premiers to civil servants. For the past 20 years, Tom provided his valuable advice to the private sector as one of the province’s premiere government relations specialists. People always remember him for his pride in, and love for, his family, his love of Corvettes, of motorcycles, of his home in Phoenix, and the joy he took in meeting people.
Tom is survived by his loving wife Sheryl of 24 years; his daughters, Angelica of Edmonton, Kelly of Sherwood Park, Krystyna (Paul) of Renfrew, Ontario; his three beautiful grandchildren (Ali, Marikje and Willem); and his sister Terry (John) of Brockville, Ontario. He also leaves to cherish his memory numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Tom was predeceased by his father Robert; and his mother Frances.
Cremation has taken place and a “Remembrance of Tom” will take place on Tuesday, August 12th, 2014 at Hainstock’s Funeral Home (9810 – 34 Avenue), at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 10985 – 124 Street, NW, Edmonton, T5M 0H9.
