Ron was the oldest of 4 children born to Leslie and Alice Waldron, and lived most of his life a proud Edmontonian, a "Riverdale Rat". Ron led his siblings Irene, Lois, Neal in various escapades while growing up in the Riverdale area. Ron married Julia Pewarchuk in 1954, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on July 31, 2014 with all four of their children Wayne, Cheryl (& Dave), Shayne(& Pat) and Candace in attendance. Ron was the proud grandfather of Kathryn, Kimberley, Pamela, Rebecca, Clayborn and Nicki and the great grandfather of Haley.
Ron enjoyed travel in exotic locales; the highpoint of his long career as a plumber/pipefitter was working for Pullman-Kellogg in various cities in the States and Canada, Indonesia, Malaysia and India. He and Julie flew over Mt Everest in a small plane originating in Nepal, visited the Taj Mahal, shopped for jewelry for Julie in Singapore and Hong Kong; went sightseeing in Bali and New York. After over 60 years in the trade, Ron retired, and while his health was good, went on cruises with Julie to Alaska , the Panama Canal, and vacations in Hawaii and Mexico. He enjoyed puttering in his greenhouse, viewing the night sky with his telescopes, growing orchids with Julie, and sharing his travel stories with his family. He could always tell a good story and enjoyed lively discussions with his family and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held Friday, January 9, 2015 at 1:30 PM at Southminster-Steinhauer United Church at 10740-19 Avenue NW Edmonton. All who knew Ron are welcome to attend. At his and the family's request, instead of flowers, please make a donation in his remembrance to the charity of your choice.
