Rita Adele Jones

Rita was predeceased by her parents, Herman and Mary Schafers; as well as her husband, Donald Neil Jones. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, Joe Schafers (Martha) and John Schafers (Priscilla). She was also predeceased by her six sisters, Margaret (Firman) Borle, Betty (Roland) Belanger, Frances (Raymond) Regimbold, Alice (Johnny) Kormes, Mary (Ted) Roy and Sharon Makus.

Rita is survived by her sons, Russell Jones (Karen) and Gordon Jones; Grandchildren, Shayne (Joy) Jones, Dean Jones, his fiancé Kylee Stuckey, and Krista Jones. She is also survived by Great Grandchildren, Jaxton, Jayda, Summer, Dominik, Xander, Isabella and Hayden Jones; plus Katie Stuckey, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Rita was born at (near) St. Albert. Her parents had a mixed farm between St. Albert and Morrinville; here they raised nine children including Rita. There were 7 girls and 2 boys. Rita was the 2nd youngest of the family.

Part of Rita’s education was at the Catholic Convent in Morrinville. It was shortly after Rita finished school that Rita met her future husband Don at a dance in Barrhead; he was a truck driver at that time and worked for Miller’s. It wasn’t long after that that Don and Rita were married at the Church Rectory and soon after that two sons Russell and Gordon were added to the family.

The family lived in Edmonton, where Don worked for Rex Underwood and then Consolidated Concrete; and Rita worked at the Good Samaritans Senior Care Centre after the boys were established in school.
