Reta Bernice Albert

January 27, 1932 – April 5, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Reta Bernice Albert at the age of 93.

Reta’s legacy as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother lives on through her sister, Vera Walch, her son, Darrell (Carol), daughters, Karen (Tom), Betty Ann (Allyn) and Kim (Wes), and cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Karly, Brendan, Megan, Andrew and Ayla as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Reta was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, Leslie Kenneth Albert, by her parents, Albert and Olga Gurel, her brother, Don, sisters Lois and Marian, and grandson, Jason.

Reta was an active church member, meeting her husband at Central Baptist Church. A city girl, Reta embraced life on the farm, raising 4 children, as well as ponies, chickens and cows. She made many lifelong friendships in the community.

Reta had many passions and hobbies, but her true devotion was to her family. She dedicated the last years of her life to lovingly caring for her husband who suffered with dementia.

The family would like to thank the staff at MacTaggart Place, along with the caring Bayshore health care aides, and the community palliative nurses, doctor and the staff at the Edmonton General Hospital Hospice.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Hainstock’s Funeral Home, 9810 - 34 Avenue, Edmonton.

Internment will take place prior to the service at 12:30 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
