Owen Jackson was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on April 22, 1971, and was raised in Little Pine, Saskatchewan until he was 8 years old; he then lived in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan until he was 12. From there, he moved with his parents to Edmonton, Alberta, and that is where he finally took root and remained until his last day.
Owen Jackson was 20 years old when he fell in love with Rachael Abbott. They went on to get married and raised a family of 11 children together in Edmonton, Alberta.
Owen always told stories about how the 80's was the best era to grow up in and he spoke fondly about his days playing in the arcade and listening to music. His love for his parents was strong and is where his love for family gatherings and Christmas originated from. There was nothing he enjoyed more than hearing the laughter of his family and always joked around to share joy with others. In the numerous family gatherings, he brightened the room and parties were more fun with him there. The sound of laughter and seeing smiles is what comes to mind when thinking of Owen.
He will be missed dearly.
A visitation will be held at Memories Funeral Home Chapel in Edmonton on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, from 3pm until 7pm. Following the visitation, a wake will be held at Little Pine Hall in Little Pine, Saskatchewan, with a service to follow on Thursday, October 26, 2023, followed by interment at Little Pine Cemetery, Saskatchewan at 12pm.
“And when he died, I suddenly realized I wasn’t crying for him at all, but for all the things he did. I cried because he would never do them again - he would never put-up Christmas decorations or watch movies or play video games with us or tell us jokes the way he did. He was part of us and when he died, all the actions stopped dead and there was no one to do them just the way he did.”
