Truly saddened to hear the passing of Bhaji Mugar Singh Dhaliwal. He was a wonderful person and a pillar of the Punjabi Sikh Community in Ottawa. The Dhaliwal family has greatly contributed to the Ottawa Sikh Society from the very beginning. May God bless his souls and give strength to Bhanji and the entire Dhaliwal family at this most difficult time. Bhaji, you will be dearly missed by all of us.

So sad to hear about Bhaji Maghar Singh Dhaliwal’s passing away on September 2, 2022. We were fortunate enough to visit him on July 5 this year. I remember he was so happy to see us and throughout our stay, he smiled gracefully. We discussed how life has been with him as a great friend. Our prayers to the Almighty to bless his soul with peace. May Waheguru give courage to dear ones to bear the loss. We are dearly missing him, a true friend all our life.

During discussion at your house you defined Waheguru as the superior energy, and human soul is just minute spark of it. I am so impressed of you being a part of discussion group at the Gurudwara . When we met you last time before you moved to Alberta, you were so positive about life and faith in Waheguru, under poor health conditions. Very saddened to hear S. Maghar Singh passing away. I had close interactions with him in Ottawa Punjabi school, Gurdwara and other social events and often had many discussion on diverse topics. His contribution to Ottawa community are indelible and he will be remembered long after. May his soul rest in peace

Saddened to hear about Dhaliwal uncle. He was a community supporter and dedicated sewadar for many years at Ottawa Gurdwara Sahib. He always greeted you with a smile. Uncle ji will always hold a special place in my heart as he helped my family when my Dada ji (Grandfather) passed away. His energy and positive spirit will always be remembered. As I arrived in Ottawa from Singapore , I was naturally attracted to Sardar Maghar  Singh’s deep knowledge of Gurbani and Gurmukhi translations. I have learned a lot from him  through our discourses at the Ottawa Sikh Society. He was a passionate and devout Gursikhi who patiently shared his knowledge and experiences. A great loss to Sikhs in Canada.

We have nice memories when we attended family function (Maghar S Dhaliwal’s younger brother’s marriage) few years back. We heard many stories from our Uncle, Amarjit S Dhaliwal including his recent visit to Edmonton.

Our family arrived in Ottawa in 1981 not knowing anyone in Ottawa and feeling quite alone.  We were fortunate to be directed by a kindly soul to the gurudhwara services, held weekly in a school hall. It was there that we met uncle ji for the first time.  He met us with an open heart and introduced us to his family.  Uncle ji's open-heartedness and kindness never changed, he made sure that we met others in the community and became part of its fabric.  The spark of friendship between our families was lit then and remains to this day.  He continued to do the same with many others, to draw them in, making sure they were not isolated, making sure they felt welcome in a new community, culture, society.  To the end, uncle ji lived his faith, continuing his sewa at the gurudhwara and  in sungat in many different roles,  quietly bringing community together with his steady presence and with aunty ji by his side.

Mr. Dhaliwal was like a second Dad to me when we were teenagers.  His acceptance of me into the family was a beautiful gesture.  I enjoyed the love of these friends, and I am grateful to still be a part of the wonderful family legacy that Mr. and Mrs. Dhaliwal created.  We are truly blessed to have had him in our lives. We have fond memories of him and his helpful disposition.  Throughout his life Maghar Singh Ji had been very kind, thoughtful and helpful to everyone.  He did a lot of voluntary work and provided leadership to the Sikh community in Ottawa in a number of ways. He has left a legacy of good work, devotion to family and friends.  We all are proud of him that he led such a dedicated life.
  
Now that he is no longer with us, may Waheguru give you and your family the  strength to bear this irreplaceable loss and may his soul rest in peace in heaven.
