Kamil Andrzej Tokarski was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, and friend. He was born in Szczecin, Poland on August 11, 1984, the first of three children of Mariola and Andrzej Tokarski. Kamil welcomed his little sister, Sandra Tokarski, to the family on May 16, 1986, while he impatiently waited for his little brother, Christian Tokarski, to be born a few years later on April 27, 1993.
Kamil and his family immigrated to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on May 28, 1990. Not speaking a word of English, but fluent in both Polish and German, Kamil met new friends who he would hold dear for the rest of his life. Growing up had not been easy, but he was strong willed and stubborn. By all means a fighter, Kamil never let his language barrier stop him from playing and meeting new people, or protecting his family to no end.
If Kamil wasn’t at home, he could be found at the David’s family home or out with his closest friend and brother, Joshua David. Joshua and Kamil shared a bond that could never be broken. Their friendship was a true testament of how a friendship should be and it will be cherished forever.
Kamil was athletic and energetic. He spent most of his time either playing soccer or skating on the ice. When he was not in his hockey gear, Kamil could be found in his room playing endless hours of Nintendo, trying to beat the top score, or putting up with his father and siblings trying to steal the controller away from him.
Kamil’s proudest moment was when he held his son, Owen Tokarski, for the first time on October 3, 2011. No words can express the endless love he had for his son. Everything Kamil did was to give his son the life he never had while growing up.
Kamil’s laugh and smile would light up any room. He was a jokester at heart, always looking to make others join him in a laugh. Kamil was also a daredevil and pushed everything to the limit. There was nothing or no one that could ever tell him “no”, as the word did not exist in his vocabulary.
Kamil was strong, caring, generous, and truly had the heart of a lion. He had an infectious personality, always the life of every party. He was courageous and would always stick up for those he loved, with no regard for the consequences placed on himself. If you were among the lucky few that he loved and admired, there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for you. He was, in fact, a true Leo.
Kamil Tokarski will be forever in our hearts.
Tokarski Strong.
