Fort McMurray, AB / Chester, NS
It is with heartbreak and profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Barrett at the age of 37 on Sunday, October 29th, 2023, at his home in Fort McMurray. He was a loving father, son and brother. He spent his early years in Nova Scotia and later moved to Alberta with his family to pursue a career that he loved, working on heavy mining and construction equipment as a Heavy-duty technician.
John leaves behind three beautiful children that he adored: Johnny (John), Isaac and Olivia (Hubbards, NS). He is survived by his father and mother, John and Shelley Barrett (MacDow), sister Sarah Baldock (Brian) and a niece Charlotte, Grandmother, Joyce MacDow as well as his partner Cristina Edeza, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who love him and he will be greatly missed.
John’s passion for adventure included snowboarding, 4-wheeling and all outdoor activities. He was an adventurer at heart and always had dreams of travel. He loved his trips back to Nova Scotia to have fun with his family and a few trips to the Philippines he had made. He always had a smile when he was with family and friends. His infectious laugh and sense of humor will be missed.
