He was predeceased by his parents Jack & Margaret Brodie, his sister Bonnie MacLeod, brother in law Curtis McLeod and sister in law Diana White.
Jim will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 54 years, Linda Brodie, children Tamara (Ted) Wood, David (Natalya) Brodie, grandchildren Ethan Wood, Mikayla Wood, Isabella Brodie, Lucas Brodie, sister Jacqueline (Jim) Miller, brother in law Malcolm MacLeod, brother in law Frank White, sister in law Sharon McLeod, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and good friends.
Jim believed in being an active community member and was involved in many business and community groups throughout his life. He was a life time member of the West Edmonton Business Association, a past member of the St Albert Optimist Club, sat on the boards of the West Edmonton YMCA and Edmonton Epilepsy Association. He spent almost 40 years as the General Manager of Central Carriers, where he oversaw many years of successes and expansions and he thought of the people there as one great big family.
Sports were always a very important part of his life. From playing, coaching or watching and whether it was football, baseball, fastball, hockey, golf, skiing, curling, etc., he loved them all. He was inducted in to the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame (Red Deer) in 2007 as a member of the 62-64 Championship Edmonton Huskies Junior Football team.
Most importantly though, Jim was a special man with a big heart who was always willing to lend a hand. Whether it was helping someone move, giving a first job, a pep talk, sharing a bit of advice, giving a needed hug or a good laugh, he was there for us. His passing will leave a big hole in our lives and in our hearts but we were so lucky to have had him in our lives. Rest well, Dad.
To honour Jim’s memory, donations can be made to Sturgeon Community Hospital Foundation (https://sturgeonhospitalfoundation.org/campaign/memorial-and-tribute/), who took such good care of him and our family during this difficult time or to a charity of one’s choice.
