It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother Iris Ivy Strudwick (nee Coward). Iris was predeceased by her husband John of 63 years. She leaves to carry on her legacy son Wayne Strudwick (Doris), daughter Carol Niedermayer, son Robert Strudwick (Michelle) and daughter Elizabeth Kirkby (Dave). Also left to miss her are 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; family was everything to Iris.
Iris began her life in Briercrest, Saskatchewan and trained as a teacher. She was hired to teach at Devon school, near Fort Qu'Appelle. She was soon swept off her feet and John and Iris were then married. With their 4 children, she and John enjoyed a busy and full life on the dairy farm near Fort San. At one time she took on an additional job as clerk in the local post office.
After John's passing in 2005, Iris moved to Edmonton to be closer to family. She resided for the last five years at Canterbury Manor.
Besides her love of family and friends her passions included playing games of any kind, particularly bridge and canasta, and watching hockey and football. Go 'Riders!
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Misericordia Emergency and ICU for their kindness, compassion and care during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to a charity of your choice in Iris' name.
Arrangements under the direction of Hainstock's Funeral Home & Crematorium, Edmonton, AB.
