Art shared his passion for life with his family and friends, and was greeted by someone he knew everywhere he went - from Africa to the coffee shop down the street. As an avid reader with a special interest in history, physics, and travel, he shared his bottomless curiosity for life with everyone around him. Art was a lifelong Edmontonian. An electrical engineer, he worked for Edmonton Power for over 35 years. He was always keen to help others as an active volunteer in the community, and was a proud Rotarian.
He will be remembered by Joyce, his wife of 56 years; his children Lisabeth (Mike) and James (Karen); his 10 energetic, vibrant, and loving grandchildren Brittany, Alex, Taylor, Aidan, Robyn, Zachary, Piper, and Poppy (Lisabeth and Mike), and Hana and Cameron (James and Karen), as well as a large extended family and many friends.
Art was predeceased by his parents Olive and Hugh Baird and by his brother Perry Baird.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Price-Hiller, Dr. J. Chan, and the many other hospital and community caregivers for the excellent and compassionate care they gave Art.
We will celebrate his life and share our many memories, stories, and laughter on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Hainstock's Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m., 9810 34 Ave NW, Edmonton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Ave, Edmonton, AB T6G 1Z2.
Arrangements under the direction of Hainstock's Funeral Home & Crematorium, Edmonton, AB.
