The family of Duong Le is sad to announce that he passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 in Edmonton, Alberta. He was a bright spark in the world and he will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Duong was born on October 24, 1952 in Sai Gon, South Vietnam. He joined the US Navy at the age of 18 during the Vietnam War. Duong came to Canada when he was 22 years old, and lived in Edmonton working as a superintendent at the Alco Oil & Gas Company for 40 years. Duong was known for being incredibly passionate about his ballroom dancing and was a ballroom dance instructor for years. Duong loved gardening when he retired and he was famous among Vietnamese people for growing the tropical loofa vegetable in a cold climate. Duong was a very hard working person, brave and determined. He was known for his friendliness and never hesitating to help people.
A viewing will be at the Memories Funeral Home, 13403 St. Albert Trail NW, Edmonton, AB on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church (Vietnamese), 13210 133A Avenue, Edmonton, AB on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 10:30 am with a graveside service to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 14611 Mark Messier Trail, Edmonton, AB.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Duong’s memory may be made directly to the Kidney Foundation
