It is with sadness that Dorothy’s family announces her passing on August 19, 2010.
She will be remembered by her step-son Jim (Elaine) Quehl of Calgary, AB and step-daughter Linda (Allan) Matthewson of Langley, BC, four step-grandchildren, one step-great granddaughter, numerous nieces, grand nieces, grand nephews and especially her grand nephew Bill (Sharon) Gano who cared for her during her final years.
Dorothy was born in Tofeild, AB on March 20th, 1915. On July 12th, 1933 Dorothy married Norman Willmore and on November 24th, 1939 their son Jack arrived. She and her family then moved to Edson, AB where they ran a shoe store for many years. Dorothy and her family moved back to Edmonton in 1958 where she has remained since.
In 1965 Norman died in a traffic accident while performing his duties as Alberta’s Minister of Lands and Forests. The Willmore Wilderness Park was named in his honour.
On April 9th, 1980 Dorothy and Dr. Eby Quehl, a respected Alberta Obstetrician and Gynecologist, were married at a ceremony in Ponoka, AB.
In addition to Norman, Dorothy was also predeceased by Eby and her son Jack.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Laurier House - Lynnwood for their loving care and support given to Dorothy in her final years.
A Service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held at Memories Funeral Home, 13403 St. Albert Trail, on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at a later date.
