Donald Fredrick Hart

August 18, 1918 - October 4, 2023

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather (“Papa”), great-grandfather, uncle, and friend on October 4, 2023.

Don is survived by his daughter Donna (Robert), granddaughters and grandsons Jennifer (Eddie) and Taylor (Matt), great-grandsons Elliot and Henrik, and special nieces, nephews, and friends. Don is predeceased by his wife, Doreen, his parents Aurore (Laura) and Fred Hart and his siblings Margaret Clarke, Sadie VanMeer, Martha Lorimer, Loy Hart, Jeanette Hart and Stuart Hart.

Don loved his home and family and was highly involved in the Strathearn United Church community. He was a proud and active member of Dominion Lodge 117 AF&AM, as well as the Royal Arch, Scottish Rite, and other Masonic bodies. He was a Past District Deputy Grand Master in the Grand Lodge of Alberta, received several honours for faithful service, and was recently awarded his 80-year membership medal, a first in Alberta. He loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. His steady, quiet strength was highly revered; and he will be forever remembered and greatly missed.

Don’s life will be celebrated in Edmonton at Hainstocks Funeral Home, 9810 - 34 Ave. NW with a public viewing on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. with the service to follow. Dr. Earle Sharam, a longtime family friend and fellow Mason, will officiate.
