I worked with Colin in the 2nd Battalion PPCLI and had served a tour with him in Afghanistan in 08’.  I came into his platoon (Reconnaissance Platoon) as an inexperienced brand new soldier trying to earn respect to hardened senior corporals. Colin was one of the few who showed me kindness. 

He will always be remembered as a fearless hard soldier who did whatever was told and a compassionate human being. 

You will be missed, and I am sorry I am just learning of this now.

Rest Easy Colin, I'm shocked and saddened to hear of your passing.

We shared our 3's together in Borden, and thru discussions we figured out we were in the same places on various times while on 1-08.  You had a gentle personality that added to our group.

During the short time I was your Captain, we didn't interact much... but this was a good thing because you were a diligent, hard worker. I understand now that you were likely fighting inner demons the entire time, but cared more about the task of the team than to burden others.  I hope your legacy becomes that of kindness and professionalism, as well as the importance of recognizing the importance of seeking help during tough times. 

My sincere condolences to all your family (in blood, relation and uniform), you are very loved and forever missed.

It's a great honor and privilege to have had Colin as a friend and co-worker over the past two years. A honorable and caring man, who would lend a helping hand to anyone who asked at work or in the community. He took great pride in any job or task asked of him at work or at home. I will miss his funny smile and stories at the shop  table over lunch and break times.

I first met Colin in 2011, when he was posted to 417 as a new AVN tech.  I did my small part in some of his Griffon training.  He learned very quickly. He helped me after work many times. With a move, my motorcycle,  just to name a few.  He was very quiet,  attentive.   I heard of his tour in Afghanistan.  Very humbling. 

 Colin, I wish we had more time to talk.  You'll never be forgotten.

Today we said our goodbyes to you Colin.  

You were always welcome in our home.   You were so kind natured and well mannered....paid attention to our young children and made them feel important and valued ....we all enjoyed your company....you were there for us ,  you walked along side Sam through difficult times ,   your friendship I know he cherished.    I only wish we had been able to do do more for you. 😢

I am glad that we got to know you and spend time with you...as brief as it was.    I am thankful for those moments of friendship and fellowship.

 It's hard to understand,    it's hard to not question and think of all the "what if's"  ....and we will feel a void in the future where you had been with us.

Yet I find comfort knowing this from Isaiah 42:3 "   a bruised reed He (Jesus) will not break,   a smoldering flame He (Jesus) will not snuff out"   ...and I hold on to the belief that He held you Colin..in your pain,  in your suffering , in your distress.    I pray that you are finally at peace and can rest in Him.

Colin i will never forget when you had me riding your dirt bike up your road and you laughed when i told you i didn't know how to ride a dirt bike and you said" press the handle thing down and hit the gas" so i did and BAMN i was on you lawn looking at the sky, you walked over and gave me a beer and said "now your a veteran" and then the next day you sold it to me so i could learn(i still like my quad  better)....I miss all our good times at 417 Sqn when we hacked darts and complained about the upper management or chilled im my supply office with you and Perry trying to beat our home made golf course. You will always be missed and it was a pleasure serving with you.

My sincere condolences to Colin’s family and friends. We worked together at 417 CS Sqn, and when I met you, you were a quiet, almost shy guy. Then, I got to know you. We shared so much laughters and jokes. I’ll always remember your smile, on my send off brother. Rest easy. End of watch.

To you my friend, I will always remember you. We have been close toghether at 417 Sqn. We have been on training togheter few times, you came to my house often to have a beer and share your thought.  Also you were coming to get some tv shows and movies from me.  In BC, I laught so much, I can belive a man can eat a pie on is own.  My thought are with you and your family.  

I am shocked and saddened by your loss. Colin will be deeply missed. He was the go to guy in Wing Master Tool Control. This was one man that people could count on. May he RIP.

I met Colin at 2 PPCLI and shared some good memories during our days in Recce Platoon. We shared a room during the 2010 Olympics. I went with him to meet his sister during this time and I can still remember the glow about him as we pulled up to the Timmy's knowing a family member was waiting on us inside.  I always recognized that Colin held his family and friends with high regard! Loyal to a fault, the kind of friend you know would give you the shirt off his own back. We lost touch somewhat over the years. As do a lot of us in the military family. We drove together to Fort Benning Georgia some 36 hours, and, over red bulls, music and the sights of the journey we became good buddies! On behalf of your extended family at 2 PPCLI, Rest in Peace Brother. You will not be forgotten.

I first met Colin a few years back at work in Cold Lake. My first impressions of him were that he was a gentil soul, very polite, and was a generous person all around. Colin would come by and have conversations about anything, he had an infectious smile and loved to carry on with myself and my colleagues Iain and Sam. Though I didn't have the privilege to spend time with him outside of work I still regarded him as a friend. I will genuinely miss greeting him, and having our conversations. You arrived in 417 CS Sqn and were polite, quiet and professional who would occasionally surprise me with a "zinger".  I was even more impressed on how humble you were after reviewing your service records.  I know you struggled, I hope you rest easy. Deepest sympathies to your family. 

  


I met Colin through my husband Dean Gullacher. We spent many night reminiscing of days gone by. He always had a welcoming smile.

I have known Colin intermittently through the years. I first got to know him in St. Hubert, QC in 2012 on my Bell 416 helicopter type course, and later in Cold Lake, AB. I have never heard him utter any angry word; always a gentleman, with a quiet smile and friendly face, thoroughly polite, and appropriate to a tee with both peers and acquaintances. My sincere condolences to his family or close friends at this truly difficult time; I am deeply affected and saddened by the news of his passing. RIP brother.
