It is with profound sadness and overwhelming grief that after a courageous battle with cancer, Anna passed away at 84 years of age. A deep devotion to her family and her unwavering faith in God brought her great peace and supported her through her final days.
Left to cherish her memory is her son Michael, of Sherwood Park, sister Aniela (Walter) Pawlikowski, brother Andrzej Gancarczyk, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins from Poland, Chicago and Ukraine. Anna was predeceased by her husband Mike in 2011 and son Andrew in 1995.
Anna was born in Czarny Dunajec, Poland and moved to Canada in 1962 after marrying Mike where they then resided and raised their sons in Uranium City, Saskatchewan for 20 years before moving to Edmonton.
Above all, Anna was deeply devoted to her faith, family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, knitting and especially her flowers and gardens. She will be remembered for her love of faith and culture especially as a North Edmonton Seniors Association member & volunteer and her devotion to the Polish Highlanders Association in Edmonton.
Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the Doctors and Nurses for their compassion and care, especially to relatives and dear neighbours, Jerzy & Krystyna and Phil & Frances (plus so many others), who were all there when she needed them the most. Thank you to Father Karciarz for your support and being there for Anna.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Cross Cancer Institute or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Due to current restrictions, a private service will be held on Tuesday, December 29 at 10am. You can view the service by visiting www.hrp.ca & click on live broadcast. A Celebration of Anna’s Life is planned for friends and family in the summer.
