Lt Col William Douglas Hart, USAF (Ret.), passed away on March 19, 2025, in Edmond, Oklahoma. He was born to Harris Maxwell Hart and Helen Catherine Ling on March 8, 1971, in Burlington, Ontario Canada. A devoted husband, father, and friend, he lived a life of service, integrity, and generosity.
Born and raised in Canada, he embraced adventure early in life, eventually building a distinguished 23-year career in the United States Air Force. His dedication and excellence earned him accolades such as the 2008 Air Force One Advance Agent of the Year, E-3 Distinguished Graduate, and Co-Pilot of the Year. His career took him across the globe, with time spent in Montana, Florida, Arizona, Oklahoma, Germany, and ultimately, Oklahoma, where he made his home for the past 18 years.
Beyond his military achievements, he was a man of many passions. A natural handyman, he found joy in fixing things, tending to his home, and making the world a better place—one project at a time. Whether planting flowers in the yard, improving the house, or lending a helping hand, he was always working to care for others. A man of faith, Bill was a parishioner at St. John the Baptist and a dedicated HOA board member, continuously giving back to his community.
His love for music, especially ’70s and ’80s classic rock, piano melodies, and the compositions of John Williams, filled his home with warmth and nostalgia. Bill’s perfect day was spent outside, hands in the dirt, surrounded by nature, and appreciating the simple beauty of life. He found joy and laughter in the witty humor of “Uncle” Bob, the silly antics of his daughters when they were young, and epic fail videos that never failed to bring a chuckle.
As a father, he instilled invaluable life lessons—work ethic, organization, and practical skills like riding a bike, solving a Rubik’s Cube, understanding finances, and even the finer points of football and gardening. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving family man, a selfless helper, and a steadfast protector who worked tirelessly to provide a good life for those he loved.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents Harris Maxwell Hart and Helen Catherine Ling.
Bill is survived by his wife of 25 years, Cindy and his daughters Kaylin and Kylee Hart of Edmond, his sister Sue Hart of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, along with two nieces, a nephew, and his fur baby Tucker.
A Celebration of Life for Bill will be held Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 900 S Littler Ave, Edmond, OK 73034. In Honor of Bill, the family would like everyone to wear bright and vivid colors.
