Verly Carbungco was born on October 21, 1991 in Angeles City, Philippines to Maye Carbungco Harris and Victor Bańaga. Maye, Verly and her sister Laverna moved to the United States on April 13, 2004. Verly enrolled in Edmond Public Schools and went on to graduate from Edmond North High School in 2009.
Verly’s ambition and a desire for a successful future inspired her to enroll at Oklahoma City Community College. She later transferred to Langston University where she became a member of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity (2014), Women of Purpose (2016) and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated (2017). Verly graduated from Langston University on May 13, 2017 with a bachelor’s in Sociology, becoming the first in her family to receive a college degree in the states. Shortly after, she was accepted into master’s degree program at Walden University.
Verly was diagnosed with COVID-19 on June 18, 2021. During her battle with the virus, Verly unexpectedly suffered cardiac arrest and on June 28, 2021 she gained her wings and was called home.
Verly was a loving, ambitious, independent, funny, caring woman who loved God.
Left behind to carry on Verly’s legacy of selfless generosity are her beloved son Sy’Aire Kai Carbungco-Harding, mother Wilma Maye Carbungco Harris, father Dionisio Victor Bańaga, sister Laverna Harding and husband Clarencio, aunt Winna Faye Stanfa and husband Matthew, cousin Constance Faith Stanfa, the father of her child Madeo Harding, second mother Delma Harding, brothers Elijah and Ezekiel Harding, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in the Philippines as well as the U.S.
