Sandy “Sondra Jane Goode” Salyer passed away early Monday morning, January 30, at home after a brave and courageous fight with cancer surrounded by her beloved sons. She had so many gracious friends that we would like to thank for their help during her illness, but there is one special angel, Gina Sloniker, without whom, neither she or we could have shouldered this storm. Sandy was born to Clyde and Virginia Goode in Sayer, OK. Shortly after her birth, they moved to Walters, OK where she was raised. Sandy graduated from Walters High School and completed a degree in elementary education from the University of Central Oklahoma. During her amazing life, Sandy pursued and enjoyed a very successful career in the insurance industry. She started her career with Wausau insurance, then joined Medley Insurance Agency in 1985. She enjoyed a 30-year career with Medley, achieving the title of Vice President. She was a pioneer for all women in a male dominated industry. Her love and passion for the business kept her working up until her last few months. Sandy loved Colorado. She had a love for the mountains and the wildlife that reside there. She spent any time she could there and most of her summers. She always loved her cabin in Grand Lake, CO. Besides her love of Colorado and her family, dogs were high on her list. Sandy was a volunteer for the Golden Retriever Rescue of Oklahoma City. She would foster golden retrievers until they could find their forever home. Her generosity extended to many organizations where she was not only willing to open her checkbook but roll up her sleeves to help any and all she could in need. Sandy is survived by her devoted children Jeff Sleeker of Lawton, OK and Andrew Sleeker and fiancé, Crystal Stone both of Edmond, OK. Grandson, Grant Sleeker and soon to be step-granddaughters, Hannah and Ella Stone. Nephew, Bryan Goode of Walters, OK and niece, Stephanie Goode of San Antonio, TX along with many dea,r close friends and extended family. Sandy also leaves behind her work family that she for cared immensely. She is preceded in death by her parents and younger brother, Don Goode. Her amazing, loving and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She touched so many lives with her kind spirit and positive outlook on life, and she will forever be missed. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Golden Retriever Foundation in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
