Ruby Dalelene Torres, a loved Wife, Mama and Mamaw passed away in her home on August 1, 2022, after a long battle with Parkinson’s at age 54. Ruby was born on August 27, 1967, in Martinsville, Indiana. Ruby met her soulmate, and husband Jacob in 1984, married in 1985 and spent 37 years together. Ruby dreamed of having a big family and was blessed with five children, who she lovingly raised, never missing an awards ceremony, soccer game, or dance recital.
Her creativity flowed through everything she touched. In the summer you could find her outside taking care of her plants, in the fall the kitchen was always filled with fresh-baked cookies. She had an incredible sense of humor and loved to laugh. Late at night, after her kids were in bed and her husband had dozed off on the couch you could hear her giggling in the kitchen, as she watched America’s Funniest Videos. Her ornery disposition shined through to the end with a little smirk and twinkle in her eye.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Jacob, children; Tony, Liz, John, Becky, and Shelby, and grandchildren; Noah, Bear, Isla, Theo, and Kallen. Ruby’s gentle and humorous spirit lives on through her family. She will never truly be gone, and when you find yourself missing her you can always find her, in Tony’s humor, John’s laugh, Liz’s creativity, Becky’s smile, and Shelby’s energy.
It is impossible to encapsulate Ruby in a few short paragraphs, but to know her was to be imbued with her love, to laugh until you cried, and to always have your plate full.
“Love as powerful as your mother’s for you leaves its own mark. To have been loved so deeply, even though the person who loved us is gone, will give us some protection forever.” – J.K. Rowling
A memorial service for Ruby will be held Monday, August 8, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Sunnymeade Baptist Church, 2800 W Britton Road, Oklahoma City, OK 73120.
