Peggy R. Burgess, age 90, of Guthrie, OK passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022. Peggy was born in Oklahoma City, OK on February 10, 1932 and was the second child of Gordon and Opal Bibb. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School and then started her family. She became interested in real estate after remodeling and selling an old house, and her talent and drive built that experience into a successful career in real estate. She spent decades developing neighborhoods and commercial properties in northeast Edmond and Guthrie, including involvement in the land deal for what would become the world-renowned Lazy E Arena.
Peggy was known by family and friends as someone who was always willing to help others, especially her grandchildren. She was generous not only with her resources but also with her time. She loved gardening, fishing with her grandkids, and fixing all things big and small.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother Gordon Bibb, daughters Sandra Kay Bell and Sherry Diane Burdick Stepanski, grandson Matthew Burdick, and husband Calvin Burgess.
Left to honor her memory are her companion of 35 years, Antonio (Tony) Perez, sister Dorothy Bishop, and daughter Gloria Keil. She also leaves behind beloved grandchildren Stoney Phillips, Kellie Rogers, Shawn Burgess, Christopher Keil, Regina Bell, Shawna Bell Johnson and her husband Shawn, and Hank Burdick, great grandchildren Chandler Johnson, Talon Hartmann, Mike Rogers, and great-great grandchildren Lehliana Hartmann
Come-and-go visitation for Peggy will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 S. Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 23 at 10 a.m. at the Baggerley Funeral Home Chapel with burial to proceed to Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, OK.
