He was passionate about many things – his family, his work and his hobbies. Mike was married to his high school sweetheart, Sondra Jean Brakebill (Sonnie), for more than 48 years and had three beautiful daughters, Tiffany, Courtney and Lacey, which were the light of his life.
Micheal George Bower was born in Oklahoma City on May 2, 1943, the youngest of four sons to Hadley H. Bower and his wife, Mary Owens. After graduating from John Marshall High School, Mike soon began his career.
By trade, Mike was a salon owner and hair stylist. He owned several salons over the years in Oklahoma City ranging in size from a small family shop to a large 30+ station shop in Casady Square. He had many clients that were loyal to him for decades.
Mike was also a man of many hobbies. They ranged from tropical fish to restoring cars to deer hunting. His latest passion was restoring Cushman motorcycles. And as with any man in the Bower family, he always had just a few “projects” he was working on.
Mike is survived by his wife, Sondra Jean (Sonnie), his three daughters and their families; Tiffany and Chris Caplinger with children Alec, Carly and Dylan; Courtney and Michael Plummer with children Wade, Cash and Levi; and youngest daughter Lacey Bower and son Noah. Mother-in-law Jeannie Brakebill. Mike also has three older brothers who always looked out for their younger brother; Hadley H. Bower, Jr and his wife Joan, Walter and Cynthia Bower, and Larry and Becky Bower.
Three friends who were very special to Mike also filled his life with fun and happiness – Gerald Knol,Larry Carney and George Baldwin.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 10 a.m at Baggerly Funeral Home in Edmond.
